Youth Link - FGM

This was another image I did for Youth Link, this time on Female Genital Mutilation, that mysteriously never made it to print. Lord only knows why.

Since this is a topic that has rocked me to the core since I first heard about it as a very young teen, I wanted to try and bring out the stark truth of it: that girls as young as 3 are forced to undergo this horrific cultural practise, often under the watchful eyes (or even at the hands) of their own family. Makes me glad I was born in the country I was born in. :whew:

I wish I could have coloured this at the time, but I was entering a 2 month-long state of depression when I was starting this. However, I think the lineart along is powerful enough.

Critique discouraged cuz it's long done and I already consider it old.
